I don’t know if it’s true for you, but my mother taught me control portion since I’m a child. Then, I realized that it was crucial as in France, we don’t gain weight as much!

Also, eat slowly, and savor each bite. Avoid distractions while eating, such as watching TV or scrolling on your phone. I must say that I’m a work in progress in this area of mindful eating. But it can help tremendously in losing weight, because everything starts with your mental state!
