Best Foods For Beautiful Hair #1: Eggs
If there’s a food you should eat every day for beautiful hair, that would be eggs! Indeed, eggs are rich in protein and biotin, two essential nutrients helping tremendously in hair growth.
Indeed, biotin is key to produce keratin, a protein protecting the hair shaft. Also, protein is important as it helps create hair follicles. Thus, without adequate amount of protein in your diet, you’re likely to experience hair loss.
Besides protein and biotin, eggs also contain selenium and zinc. Thus, all these nutrients make eggs one of the most potent foods to help you get beautiful hair.
Best Foods For Beautiful Hair #2: Berries
If you eat berries regularly, your hair will benefit from it because they’re full of vitamin C. Indeed, vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps you hair follicles fight free radicals. Moreover, it helps your body produce collagen, which is essential to strengthen and beautify your hair.
Vitamin C also helps the body absorb iron easily, which helps hair growth tremendously. Indeed, many studies have shown the correlation between low iron levels in the body and hair loss.
Best Foods For Beautiful Hair #3: Sweet potatoes
Sweet potatoes are one of my favorite foods! It’s loaded with beta carotene, which explains its orange color. Thus, it is converted in vitamin A within the body after absorption.
Vitamin A is an essential vitamin for hair health. However, you must eat it in balanced amounts. Indeed, low vitamin A levels cause hair loss; but so do high vitamin A levels.
Consequently, you should always rely on your food intake to get vitamin A and avoid too much supplementation. And that’s where foods like sweet potatoes are very useful in your daily diet.

When your mother told you to eat your vegetables as a child, she was right! Indeed, spinach contains several beneficial nutrients for healthy and beautiful hair. Among them, you have vitamins A and C, folate, and zinc.
Moreover, spinach is a great plant-based source of iron, which helps your hair to grow and be repaired, while boosting your metabolism.
Best Foods For Beautiful Hair #5: Fatty fish
If you’re a fatty fish lover, your hair will thank you! Indeed, fatty fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids which help your hair grow. Moreover, fatty fish contains protein, selenium, vitamin D3, and B vitamins. all these nutrients help your hair to be beautiful, strong, and vibrant.
Thefore, don’t forget to eat the following fish regularly (at least 2 to 3 times per week), depending on the place you live:
- salmon
- mackerel
- tuna
- herring
Avocado
I know, avocado comes back often in many articles about skin and hair. But that’s because avocado is truly a natural superfood!
Indeed, avocados are an excellent source of fatty acids and vitamin E. The latter is a powerful antioxidant like vitamin C which helps fight against free radicals. Moreover, vitamin E protects the scalp against oxidative damage. Indeed, if you have a damaged scalp, this will result in poor hair quality and weak hair follicles.
Nuts and seeds
Those foods are packed with wonderful and useful nutrients for hair growth and shine. Indeed, they are full of vitamin E, zinc, selenium, B vitamins, and essential fatty acids. They help your hair grow while reducing inflammation.
What should you eat daily to get your intake of nuts and seeds? Here re some examples:
- handful of almonds (around 20)
- 5 to 6 walnuts
- 3 to 4 Brazil nuts
- 1 tablespoon of chia seeds or flaxseeds in your smoothies, your porridge’s or your Birchers
Greek yoghurt
If you’re not allergic to dairy products, then Greek yoghurt will be your hair’s best ally! Not only it is rich in protein, but it also contains vitamin B5. This nutrient boosts your blood circulation to your scalp. Therefore, it stimulates your hair growth while fighting hair thinning.
Moreover, you can use yoghurt in DIY protein masks for your hair. But shhh…I keep it for another article. So stay tuned!
Citrus fruits
Never forget to include oranges, lemons, or grapefruits in your diet! Indeed, these foods are rich in vitamin A and C, two powerful antioxidants which fight against free radicals. Thus, they are very useful to boost your hair growth and shine.
Beans
Are you a vegan looking for a reliable source of plant-based protein to grow your hair? Then, beans are the number one food to choose.
Indeed, beans are rich in protein, iron, zinc, and biotin. All the nutrients boosts your hair growth. Whether you eat them in soups or in Chile con carne, don’t forget to include beans in your diet. This will be especially useful as we get into the cold weather.
Bone broth
Do you remember when your grandmother used to cook bone broth? There, you should know that it wasn’t only to boost your immunity. Or to fight colds and flu.
Indeed, bone broth is a collagen-boosting food and is also rich in protein. Thus, it’s very useful in boosting your hair growth and shine.
If you are nostalgic, you can make your own bone broth at home. You will find many recipes on the Internet. However, if you’re lazy or in a hurry, I have a solution for you. Indeed, you have powdered bone broths ready to be consumed.
For instance, Organika and Kettle & Fire are brands that offer high-quality powdered bone broths. And you won’t have to spend your whole time in the kitchen!

I have a question for you: You mentioned that low vitamin A levels can cause hair loss, but so can high vitamin A levels. Could you elaborate a bit more on the balance one should maintain when it comes to vitamin A intake to promote healthy hair? What are the recommended daily amounts of vitamin A, and how can people ensure they’re getting the right balance in their diet?
Thank you for sharing your knowledge, and I look forward to your response!
Hello Leila! For vitamin A you should eat a balanced diet with orange fruits and vegetables and meat fish or butter. Hope that this helps
Having beautiful hair, as well as skin, comes not only from external products, but also from within. Eating the right foods, will certainly improve the condition of your hair and skin.
I am pleased to see that several of the best food items for healthy hair, like nuts, berries and avocado, are included in my daily diet. It is interesting to see that you specify Greek yoghurt, rather than just normal yoghurt. Would normal natural yoghurt also be beneficial for your hair, or is there a specific ingredient in Greek Yoghurt that makes it better? Thank you.
Greek yoghourt has more probiotics but you can eat normal yoghourt if you wish…
These are some great tips for achieving luscious locks! I’ve personally experienced the benefits of including these hair-boosting foods in my diet. Eggs, berries, and avocados have become staples, and I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my hair’s strength and shine. A new one for me that I may try thanks to your post is bone broth!
